The growth of the rockclimbing industry in Palestine can be mostly attributed to two students from the US, who founded Wadi Climbing and have been preparing the rockfaces around Ramallah and dedicatedly taking groups of willing participants to their sites. Their approach has paid off - and they are about to open an indoor rockclimbing centre and shop in Ramallah (March 2016).
I was not the only one to write about my rockclimbing experience with Wadi Climing... you can read more about it in The Guardian, Al Jazeera.
For anyone wanting to try rockclimbing in Palestine, check Wadi Climbing's facebook page. They usually take a group out on Fridays, and will provie all the gear. The trip will take most of the day, and start early in the summer months. The group is extremely welcoming to beginners, and the more experienced climbers are always helpful - even if you get to the top and decide you can't come down and need to be rescued!
Best for: Active people, wanting to try something new and enjoying the beautiful scenery
When: All year round from March 2016
Where: Day trips leave from Ramallah
